Gong Cha Tea: Is it really THAT good?

A while back, I did a review on Serenitea and Aileen commented that I should try Gong Cha Tea as well. So try I did, with Deep Tissue Massage boy and his friends.
Yeah, I know, I should use a camera better than my BB Curve's

I asked the  Gong Cha tea specialist (Side note: What the frack do you call them? If you call those who prep and sell coffee "barista", do you call those that specialize in milk tea, "tea baristas"?) which of their teas I should try and they said for me to try Gong Cha Tea Winter Melon and their Milk Tea with Pearl Jelly.
On the left is the Milk Tea and on the right is the Gong Cha Tea Winter Melon
I like my milk tea to actually taste like tea and their Milk Tea with Pearl Jelly was the perfect balance of milk and tea for me. They used the right amount of sugar (although you can alter the % of sugar for your drink) and the drink had a nice velvety after taste for me which I liked.

For the Gong Cha Tea Winter Melon that DTM boy had, it did not have any pearls added to it so we had to pay Php 15 extra for that. And given that DTM is still an inggitero (envious) little boy at heart, when he saw that his friends added pudding to their Gong Cha Tea Winter Melon drink, he also asked to have that added to his drink so that was another Php 20 extra.

I want what I want when I want it! Put some pudding on it! #bratmode
The result? His drink was more like a desert than a beverage. His drink had too much stuff going on, it seemed like he was eating gintaang bilo-bilo (glutinous rice balls in coconut milk).

BUT! The drink itself on its own was yummy he said. The Winter Melon milk tea also worked for his friend that did not really like the taste of milk tea as a whole. So yey for Gong Cha!

Gong Cha is actually the #1 milk tea store for me.. :) I like their Milk Tea with Herbal Jelly, as well as the Milk Wintermelon Tea. I don't get any add-ons for the latter though, 'cause it's better as it is ;) And make sure to sip through the foamy top layer first. Did a review on Gong Cha a while back: http://www.thepurpledoll.net/2011/10/hailing-from-taiwan-gong-cha-beverage.html

So sorry, it's just now that I saw this and your message! But I'm glad you tried Gong Cha! :D And I'm even more glad that you had a great experience with it! <3

In milk tea's, whenever I like to go for the kind which is milky without really sacrificing the tea taste? I go for Gong Cha. And when I crave for the kind which is more 'tea' than milk, I go for Serenitea. :>
