The Mini Chess Museum that is Pan de Amerikana

When Deep Tissue Massage boy and I get off from work, we are usually too tired to whip up something in the kitchen. So we are always on the look out for places that serve good food that open at 8 am.

That's why when Looks-like-Kris-Aquino's-youngest-son Boy showed me the link to Pan de Amerikana, and I saw their store hours are from 6am to 7pm, I got uber excited.

There are 2 Pan de Amerikanas that we've alredy tried. We tried the one in Katipunan first as its nearer in Eastwood but I don't have any pictures of that so let's talk about the one in Marikina.

As soon as you see the Pan de Amerikana in Marikina, you feel like the entire resto is so out of place in the entire stretch of Ordonez St. The place looks like it belongs to somewhere in Tagaytay or Baguio.

When you get to the counter fronting the restaurant, you will see the menu board where you will order your food. Unlike the one in Katipunan, the Marikina branch will require you to order your food from the counter.

The prices are dirt cheap. Although we wanted to order their everlasting, we were advised that they were only service breakfast. So here is what we ordered:

Corned Beef - Php 55

Chicken Sandwhich - Php 25

Pumpkin Soup - Php 40

So for 2 people, we only spent Php 240!

Although the corned beef was a bit cold, the pumpkin soup made up for it. I so love pumpkin soup (the best one that I've had so far was the one in Uncle Cheffy's, Eastwood). I loved it so much I considered licking the bowl clean. But given that I was in a public place, I had to settle with wiping the remaining soup streaks that my spoon could no longer get with scraps of pandesal.

After eating, DTM and I walked around the place.

If the gimmick of the Katipunan branch is that it is the first upside down restaurant in southeast Asia, the Marikina branch boasted of being the first chess themed resto.

Knight defeats DTM on G6

They also have a tree house!

Needs improvement: They need to fix the scary bridge connecting one part of the tree "house" to the other.
What we like: PUMPKIN SOOOUUP and their pandesal.
Verdict: Not a bad place to eat breakfast and take some awesome pictures :)

How to contact them and how to get there?
They currently have 4 branches:
- 92 Ordonez St Concepcion Dos MARIKINA (02) 475-2398
- 118 KATIPUNAN Avenue White Plains (02) 421-1966
- Unit 4 Madison Bldg GREENHILLS San Juan (02) 384-6741
- MAKATI Avenue corner Constellation St
Maps available here for the Katipunan and Marikina branches.

Although the soup does not look so appetizing in the photos, yes it is yummy :)
